Traditional and modern upholstery

The Charles of Lloyd portfolio shows examples of pieces, which we've crafted in our East London Workshop using our expertise and comprehensive range of upholstery services.

Attua Aparicio Ceramic Stool Tops

We worked with designer Attua Aparicio to upholster these organic shaped seat tops for her sculptural ceramic stools. One incorporating patch-worked fabric pieces with joins aligning with the corresponding patchwork effect glaze.

Conran Love Seat

This Conran Love Seat was refurbished and reupholstered in Kvadrat Divina wool with a contrast piping.

Gio Ponti - D.151.4 Armchair - Molteni & C

A master of Architecture, Gio Ponti was heavily inspired by industry and designed the D.151.4 easy chair for ocean liners and cruise ships in around 1950. Now reproduced by Molteni & C, these versions feature 'loose' covers - namely upholstery that's entirely removable. We carefully tailored replacement covers for this pair in Kvdadrat fabrics

Scandinavian Mid Century Armchair

This Scandinavian mid-century armchair was reupholstered in vibrant Bute Tweed and the woodwork restored to give this much loved chair a new lease of life.

Bespoke Pouffe

This bespoke foot rest was inspired by one that our client had inherited from her grandmother, we made a cylindrical frame and upholstered it in Pierre Frey Lasso fabric supplied by the client, replicating the piped detailing from the original.

Jean Royère - Oeuf Chairs

Designed in 1951, Royère's 'Egg' chair is considered an important design piece of the 20th Century. Reupholstered in complementary fabrics from Kvadrat's Raf Simons collection. We restored the padded underside which completes the egg shape and had been removed during the previous re-cover.

Bespoke seat pads

These abstract-shaped seat pads were covered in delightful leather for a furniture maker to complete some stools. Leather and seatboards were supplied.

The Fall - Bespoke bench cushions

We produced some sophisticated wrap-style box cushions to compliment a concrete sub-structure. The brief here was minimal, opting for a simple wrap with tailored corners and no hard boarders.

Pierre Paulin - Tongue Chair - Artifort

A renowned sculptural chair of the 1970s, the tongue chair is a regular on our workbenches. Comprising of a tubular metal frame with elasticated webbing and a rubber membrane, we have replaced many foam interiors and tailored covers on this model.

Pierre Paulin - ABCD Sofa - Artifort

This sofa required a full restoration of the foam interior from the metal frame upwards. The foam interior was re-fabricated the shape using various laminated layers, then fixed to a metal frame with rubberised webbing and platform cloth.  A true era of experimentation, this restoration involved a cross-over of traditional and modern materials.

Ernest Race - Heron Chair - Race Funiture

Reupholstery of an antique Ernest race heron chair from the frame upwards. This chair was in a terrible state with next to no foundations left, just foam dust. A challenging piece to reinterpret with minimal references for the finished shape, all created through foam lamination work around a metal frame and hand sewn top cover tailoring.

Faux french mattress-style cushions

Not your average upholstery for your better-than-average pub. The Duke pub was looking for something playful for their summer outdoor area. Upholstered in a classic ticking style stripe, we fabricated some faux french mattress-style cushions with light button tufting.

Bespoke bench

This bespoke bench was designed and commissioned by an established interior designer for a commercial salon setting. Both frame and upholstery were fabricated in-house and fitted on site ensuring all fabrics were up to a commercial fire rating.

Minimal fixed bench seating

With a shallow seat depth, this commission entailed the making of some luxuriously deep feather seat cushions alongside a streamlined backrest

London Shell Co

These bespoke seat pads were created in collaboration with furniture designer Daniel Bradley. Following his vision, a set of low-set seat pads were fabricated to slot inside his perfect carpentry.
